Donations

Any gift or bequest is an investment in the future of Pittwater’s unique environment

Why Donate?

Only a relatively small proportion of Pittwater's natural environment remains undeveloped. Even much of that is subject to encroachments, illegal clearing, bushfire hazard and more.

The bush reserves are large. There is insufficient Council, State or Federal money available to stem the ongoing impacts of urbanisation. Without additional support the degradation will continue. The only means of obtaining adequate funding is private philanthropy.

For those who value the many natural beauties within the area, here is an opportunity to make a difference to our natural environment.

Types of Donations

Tax Deductible Gifts
The Pittwater Environmental Fund is a registered Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) and is entitled to receive income tax deductible gifts. Donations for which a tax deduction may be claimed include cash, property purchases in the last 12 months and trading stock.

Gifts
Donations, including cash, property, and trading stock, can be allocated to any environmental project within the Pittwater area specified by the donor. Property is defined to include land, artwork, shares and other rights and interests which have value. Conditional donations will be subject to Foundation approval.

Bequests*
A bequest is the term given to a gift in a will. Bequests are exempt from capital gains tax. There are many ways to make a bequest.

  • Specific Bequest
It may be as simple as adding a codicil to an existing will nominating a sum of money or asset such as a house or other land, shares and other investments, life insurance, artworks or other valuables.
  • Residual Bequest
A residual bequest donates what remains of the estate after all debts and expenses have been paid and other gifts distributed; or a specified share or percentage of the residuary estate.
  • Major Bequest
The bequest of an entire estate or a specified share of percentage (after all debts and expenses have been paid) is another form of bequest
  • Future Bequest
A donor may give a beneficiary a life interest in a property such as a house to live in or receive income from during their lifetime. On their death, or after a specified period, this property will pass to the Foundation
  • In Memoriam
Gifts can also be made in memory of someone
