Emeritus Professor Bruce Thom

Pittwater Environment Foundation (PEF) is honoured to welcome Emeritus Professor Bruce Thom as our patron. Professor Thom is currently Chairperson of the NSW Coastal Council, a member of the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists and Emeritus Professor at the University of Sydney.

Bruce Thom has enjoyed a long and successful career, which has been focused around valuing and caring for our coastal environment. He has, over many years made significant contributions to better coastal zone management in the public interest through both science and policy, and has a long list of professional achievements to his name.

As patron, Professor Thom’s role will include helping PEF highlight and promote the aim and purpose of the organisation which is ‘to protect, conserve, restore and enhance the natural environment values of the Pittwater area’ on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Professor Thom has had a long history of involvement and interest in the natural environment, sustainability and conservation of Australia’s natural resources throughout his career, with special emphasis on ecological management of the coastal zone.

His insights and guidance will be valued by Directors of the Pittwater Environment Foundation, in applying community donations from the Trust Fund to projects that further the aim of maintaining the natural heritage values of this special part of the world, into the long term future.

We, the Board of Directors look forward to working together with Bruce, to deliver outcomes that contribute to the conservation and protection of Pittwater’s natural environment.
